Can you not?

I've been traveling. Enough that I have compiled a list on my ipod of things people shouldn't do on planes. I have also made another list of things I wish I could say to the same people committing the said offenses. Here we go...

If you're in the window seat, you should lower your shade in the mid-day sun. Especially when the occupant of the window seat plans on being asleep for 2 hours of the plane ride. This makes watching crappy movies even harder.

If you drink a lot, you should plan ahead to sit in an isle seat. Either that or get depends.

Full size suitcases will never count as carry-on luggage even if you can sneak it past the airport personel. Don't even try fitting in under the seat in front of you.

If you can't fit in one seat, you need to buy two.

Please take a shower before you get on the plane.

If you stand up and try to move around after the plane has landed, forget about it. The already hot cabin will only get hotter.

Hey kid sitting across the aisle, stop asking me weird questions and please stop trying to grab my laptop. You could probably also lose the nasto facial piercings and get your pants off the ground.

Don't ask someone to switch seats unless you obviously have the better seat. For the russian lady who I swapped seats with-- row 41(window seat... aka jail) is worse than row 18(aisle seat). ESPECIALLY when the kid behind you is puking his brains out during the 5 hour plane ride. This was so bad.

Thats all for the airplane complaints! Currently in Honolulu, 3 out of 7 members of my family have food poisioning. I may have escaped the epidemic, we'll see.

DC and the road trip

I've been busy, very busy. Its a good thing. In the past week I went to DC to see Rachel, Shiloh, Harper and Atticus Finch. While I was there I talked to 9 people at 5 different companies and firms (informational interviews). I learned a lot and now feel like I know what to do in order to get where I want to be. I was in business casual for the most of 2 whole days, and I liked it. I met up with Laura at the Metro Center Metro stop (not as cool as a tube stop) and roasted marshmallows at Cosi. After that I thought it would be a good idea to walk to my dad's hotel for some exercise. WRONG. About a half a mile into the walk it started to downpour and I got stuck under the shelter of a tree with no umbrella and an already transparent white shirt. It was a small fiasco.

I also drove my escape out to Utah with my brother. There is a lot of nothing in the middle of the country--pretty sometimes, but mostly a lot of the same. Truck stops are fantastic cultural experiences. We had taco bell twice, 4 bags of beef jerky, 3 boxes of chewy bars, 4 bottles of diet coke, 6 bottles of water and 110 gallons of gas. Here are some pictures my brother took from the trip. The wyoming and utah pictures are still on the camera.

some good words

"Today I refuse to spend time worrying about what might happen. I am going to spend my time making things happen. Today I am determined to study to improve myself, for tomorrow I may be wanted, and I must not be found lacking. Today I am determined to do things I should do. I firmly resolve to stop doing the things I should not do. Today I begin by doing and not wasting my time... Today
I will act toward other people as though this might be my last day on earth. I will not wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes."

Harder things are Easier

I've noticed a really weird trend over the past few weeks. Hard things are easier for me to do than the easy things. Sudoku got me thinking:

Look at my scores. The average times are longer for the easier levels.
(I shouldn't have uploaded sudoku on my ipod, I played for about 200 minutes in the span of 2 weeks. My solitaire time wasted is worse than that.)

Also, I played tennis with my dad a few weeks ago. I was a lot better when he was hitting the balls harder at me. Without a challenge, I am more likely to play badly.
These are just thoughts, maybe now I will seek out the challenges instead of choose the easy way out. However, I am still keeping my easy bio teacher and easy religion teacher for the fall. Ratemyprofessors.com has saved my gpa once or twice.
